Welcome to JDMmotorsports Project
EVOlution

Car Owner: David Long

Car: 2003, Mitsubishi Evolution VIII

Project Start Date: April 28th 2007.

Project Overview: Project EVOlution is the conversion of a basically stock 2003 EVO into a 450awhp street car.

Dave brought his Mitsubishi EVO to us with what he described as a knocking noise coming from the engine. The car was trailered to the shop on 4/25/07 as it stopped running on the way for our first consultation visit with Dave. Dave explained that he was leaving for Iraq (recently enlisted) on 4/28/07 and would like his car finished upon his return from duty.

Plan of Action: After discussing the car briefly with Dave a plan of action was set up in which JDMmotorsports would keep the car and through e-mail and contact with his mother, would start to aquire parts and set-up a plan of action to give Dave a fully functioning "built" motor car upon his return.

We are located in a residential area, so please keep the noise to an absolute minimum or we will hear about it from our neighbors! And you will hear it from us!

Step 1: 7/27/2007
Today we started on Project EVOlution. Our goal was to pull the motor and see what parts will be needed to rebuild this car into the car Dave wants.

The inital teardown of the car, requires removing the battery tray and intake first, from there all of the electrical, oil and gas lines.

Once these are removed, we went under the car and removed the rear driveshaft, transfer case, and the front axels.

With that complete the motor was ready to come out. After some twisting and pushing the motor and tranny were free from the car and ready for teardown.

As time goes on we will be posting more info and shots on the teardown and rebuild of project EVOlution so check back often.

Our next step will be to tear down the motor and determine what is needed to build the car into a 450-500whp street machine. To do this we will be addressing the motor, turbo, transmission, transfer case, suspension, and brakes.
